The Auburn Area Woodcrafter's Guild is an organization of woodcrafters with skills ranging from beginning hobbyists to master craftsman that share a common interest and enthusiasm for working with wood. Our members are dedicated to teaching others what they know and learning what they don't. Membership dues are $10 per calendar year, due in January.

Our typical monthly meeting draws from 30 to 50 members; we have an active and diverse membership of cabinetmakers, furniture builders, finishers & restorers, turners, luthiers, carvers, and crafters. The roughly 2 hour gathering opens with announcements, then visitor/guest/new member introductions, followed by a solicitation for "safety stories." Show-and-tell usually takes the remainder of the 1st hour, to our refreshment break and setup for the guest speaker.

We work hard to bring in a guest speaker each month - often it is someone from outside the Guild, but not always - with the range of talented individuals we have, it's not uncommon to have a presentation from one of our members. The evening ends with a raffle of (woodworking) goodies - mostly funded by raffle procedes, but also items donated by members.

With our meeting being held in the Northern California Gold Country town of Auburn, we draw members from Grass Valley, Nevada City and Penn Valley, to Colfax, Applegate, Foresthill, Georgetown, Cool and Placerville, down to Roseville, and even as far as Davis! So, you can see that many folks think our group is "worth the drive." Come see for yourself.
